I liked Jeremy and there are some awesome scenes in this book. For the time, this was a hot romance. Thanks for telling us about the problem. The second half after Jeremy and Meredith are married gets much better so hang in there! No trivia or quizzes yet. I wore it out.

Trothrock rated it it was amazing Jan 05, The novel itself is highly erotic and is one of my favorite novels to date. Lydia rated it liked it Feb 23, But wait, stepfather saw something in servant’s hauty gaze cajdace the block and he actually purchased Jeremy Devlin eeeee!
This book really can never go out of style with its timeless take on a great love affair, it can stand the test of time and last throughout the ages. Another aspect of the story that, while not annoying, was hard to swallow was Jeremy’s decision to manumit all slaves on Meredith’s plantation, pay wages, and still turn a tidy profit in South Carolina.
Meredith thinks herself unattractive, but it is clear that Jeremy feels a passion for her, although he doesn’t want to be married to her bitteroeaf love her. Anyone could have figured out who the villain was, but of course the heroine thought it was the hero trying to kill her. Canadce was a sure keeper for me.
So it’s safe to say that I’ll be avoiding any spinster heroine novels longer than a Harlequin. He has some opposition from people in the community, but he is determined and comes up with a workable solution to the slavery issue. Way better than watching porn together which I always thought was super weird. The plot gets complicated but is easy to follow and easy to relate to.

I could probably leave it there, but a synopsis is too good to be true fore this one. What a lovely, trope-filled read! This was a book I read over and over and over. Jun 10, Karla rated it it was ok Recommends it for: Marie C rated it it was amazing Jul 30, There are no discussion topics on this book yet.
I highly recommend it!!! If you’re a fan of incredible circumstances, old school romance and purple prose, this is definitely the book for you. But he has plans of revenge on his mind. Then she met the regal blue gaze of a golden-haired slave upon the auction block, and with one burning look he branded her as the victim of his desire and revenge.
One afternoon she decides to go with her step-dad down to the sale of bond-slaves. That is, until I read a couple romances candzce it didn’t annoy me at all.
It’s an antebellum which I don’t usually get into. So I decided not to avoid a certain trope simply because of candacd it is because, you know, there might be an author who will do it justice and you will be glad you kept the faith.
Lists with This Book. There is some mild suspense as there is someone trying to hurt Jeremy and Meredith, but it’s all rather predictable.

Jul 03, sandy forguson rated it it was amazing. It sucks all the air out of a book when so much of it is focused on a character’s plain looks or lack of social skills. But I hope to find my own copy someday.
Selfish, self-centered and thoroughly lacking in morals, he spends the better part of the book looking out for 1. Meredith and Jeremy were characters I liked and admired, and biitterleaf well for. Meredith is a spinster and the mistress of Bitterleaf.
