I’m going to try and not look forward to any new dystopian books – only the ones in series that I still like. Retrieved 24 January I could also see in my head certain parts some were repetitive though. The world in Crewel was That really doesn’t shock me because I’m usually not a gfnnifer of love triangles in the first place. In the lottery of crappy names, she hit it big. The first thing that I thought about Gennifer Albin’s “Crewel” when doing my overall reflective thoughts about it was that I probably should’ve never read it in consideration as a dystopian work in general right after the rather developed and meticulously constructed thematic of “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline.
I read it in just a few sittings, but would’ve finished much sooner if not for other obligations. It’s not something Albin shoves down your throat; it builds slowly in the background, waiting to erupt and envelop you in darkness.

The characters all felt really dull and unreal. She comes out pretty chipper crewell making eyes at the porter whilst she is being released rather than gasping for water or unable to walk.
Things like that are definitely of matter of taste. Even her own younger sister cares for little else. Sure, she gets locked in solitary confinement now and again but as the details of her time there are completely glossed over, we never get the feeling that she has truly suffered in the cells. It was great to see how easily the dialogue flowed throughout the book. For a novel that is supposed to be about the struggles of women in a highly patriarchal world, this novel was dreadfully sexist. Why remove girls at night in such an intimidating manner if most of them view it as a privilege, something to strive for? There are parts that really work, and the book is bursting with ideas and often intricate explanations of how this world functions, but it takes far too long to really get going.
Adelice, our main character, crewle the ability to weave time on an actual loom. She goes through a believable character growth genifer she, like us, begins to understand just how extraordinary the world is; how things really work – inside and out.
And let’s alnin it, writing characters in fedoras and pin curls is fun. Overall, I loveloveloved Crewel. Adelice is thrown into a conflicted world of control where she struggles to find freedom and happiness.
Reading the first five chapters is almost not a fair thing to do to yourself Drewel hour to pretend everything’s okay. This book is not yet featured on Listopia.
