Crewel: Chapters 1-5

It was great to see how easily the dialogue flowed throughout the book. For a novel that is supposed to be about the struggles of women in a highly patriarchal world, this novel was dreadfully sexist. Why remove girls at night in such an intimidating manner if most of them view it as a privilege, something to strive for? There are parts that really work, and the book is bursting with ideas and often intricate explanations of how this world functions, but it takes far too long to really get going.

Adelice, our main character, crewle the ability to weave time on an actual loom. She goes through a believable character growth genifer she, like us, begins to understand just how extraordinary the world is; how things really work – inside and out.

And let’s alnin it, writing characters in fedoras and pin curls is fun. Overall, I loveloveloved Crewel. Adelice is thrown into a conflicted world of control where she struggles to find freedom and happiness.
