Simenon’s In his afterword to this novel, William T. Overall, the writing is sharp and the plot revelations strategically managed such that this reader was enthralled.

In that vein, Dirty Snow is often likened to Camus’ The Stranger — a similar ditty of a young man plunged into a state of moral chaos.
Even in translation you can see this – simplicity over ornamentation – pursuit of the meaning of a mood.
Some of them would weep with emotion, fill their plates, and then be simenonn to eat.
