It is a practice that has been used in the history of every society on the face of the planet at some point, throughout human history. I looked through some of the other reviews of this book and I find that in many if not most cases the “number of stars in the rating” depends heavily on whether you agree with the stance of the main character or one of the main characters, Kenner is the spokesman in most of the narratives but the protagonist is Evans.
Gripping and thought-provoking, State of Fear is Michael Crichton at his very best. The media has put the civilized world into a “State of Fear” based on random, targeted, singular research studies, conducted perhaps by scientists whose funds are granted via organizations who have a stake in global warming. I think the characters in the book are very believable, they have character flaws that most people have. Sixteen of 18 US climate scientists interviewed by Knight Ridder said the author was bending scientific data and distorting research.

The speeches are actually the most thrilling part of the book, and examine environmentalism from a critical perspective that is unorthodox, convincing, and fascinating.
I was actually amazed and surprised by the information used in the book. Over the course crichtoon the story, he receives his “education” on the evils of the climate change lobby by John Kenner.

This is a book that you can read very easily because of it has a well written archetypal and blockbuster Hollywood style.
